Hubbard County is located in the northwest corner of the state of Minnesota.
The population was 21,344 at the time of the 2020 census.
Park Rapids serves as the county seat.
The county includes a portion of the Leech Lake Indian Reservation.
On February 26, 1883, territory was partitioned from Cass County to form the county.
It was named after Lucius Frederick Hubbard, the governor of Minnesota from 1882 to 1887 and a prominent Territory editor, Civil War participant, and businessman.
Since its inception, the county’s boundaries have remained unchanged.
The county covers 1,000 square miles (2,600 km2), 926 square miles (2,400 km2) of which is land and 74 square miles (190 km2) (7.4%) is water.
