Hood County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas.

It is on the Edwards Plateau.

As of the census in 2020, there were 61,598 people living there.

Granbury is the county seat.

John Bell Hood was a Confederate lieutenant general who led Hood’s Texas Brigade. The county is named after him.

Hood County is in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington urban statistical area and the Granbury micropolitan area.

The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county has a total area of 437 sq mi (1,130 km2), of which 421 sq mi (1,090 km2) are land and 16 sq mi (41 km2) (3.7%) are water.
