Hidalgo County is the most southern county in the U.S. state of New Mexico.

In Spanish, it is called Condado de Hidalgo.

As of the census in 2020, there were 4,178 people living there.

Lordsburg is the county seat and the biggest city.

The county has a total area of 3,446 square miles (8,930 km2), of which 3,437 square miles (8,900 km2) are land and 9.1 square miles (24 km2) (0.3%) are water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

The part of the county that borders Mexico on the east and south is called the Bootheel.
