Hickman County is a county in the state of Kentucky in the United States.
As of the 2020 census, there were 4,521 people living there.
This made it the third-least populated county in Kentucky. Clinton is the county seat.
In 1821, the county was made.It has the fewest people per square mile of any county in the state. It is also a prohibition or “dry” county.
Hickman County was the 71st county to be made. It was made in 1821.
It was named after Captain Paschal Hickman of the Kentucky Militia’s 1st Rifle Regiment.
Hickman was from Franklin County, Kentucky. In January 1813, he was hurt and taken prisoner at the Battle of Frenchtown. He was killed by Indians in the Massacre of the River Raisin.
The county has a total area of 253 square miles (660 km2), of which 242 square miles (630 km2) are land and 11 square miles (28 km2) (4.3%) are water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
