Henry County is a county in the U.S. state of Kentucky.
It is in the north central part of the state and borders the Kentucky River.
As of the census in 2020, there were 15,678 people living there. Its county office is in New Castle, but Eminence is its biggest city.
Parts of Shelby County were used to start the county in 1798.
It was named after Patrick Henry, who was a politician and the governor of Virginia at the time.
The Louisville/Jefferson County, KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area has Henry County as a part of it.
It has become a more important suburb since the 1990s, especially as land prices have gone up in nearby Oldham County.
It is called a “wet county” because booze can be sold there.
The US Census Bureau says that the county is 291 square miles (750 km2) in size, with 286 square miles (740 km2) of land and 4.8 square miles (12 km2) of water, or 1.7%.
