Cambridge is the county seat.

On January 13, 1825, Henry County was made from Illinois’s Fulton County.
It is named after Patrick Henry, a fiery patriot during the Revolutionary War who fought for people’s rights and is known for saying, “Give me liberty, or give me death.”
The US Census Bureau says that the county is 826 square miles (2,140 km2) in size, with 823 square miles (2,130 km2) of land and 2.7 square miles (7.0 km2) of water (0.3%).[8] It is the 29th biggest county out of Illinois’s 102.
