Haskell is the county seat.
The county was made in 1858, and in 1885 it was put together.
It is named after Charles Ready Haskell, who died in the Goliad killing.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county has a total area of 910 square miles (2,400 km2), of which 903 square miles (2,340 km2) are land and 7.1 square miles (18 km2) (0.8%) are water.
