Harrison County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas.
It is on the eastern edge of the state.
As of the United States Census in 2020, there were 68,839 people living there.
Marshall is the county seat.
The county was made in 1839, and in 1842 it was put together.
It is named after Jonas Harrison, who was a lawyer and a leader in the Texas Revolution.
The Marshall micropolitan statistical area, which is part of Harrison County, is also a part of the Longview-Marshall combined statistical area.
It is in the area called Ark-La-Tex.
The county has a total area of 916 square miles (2,370 km2), of which 900 square miles (2,300 km2) are land and 16 square miles (41 km2) (1.7%) are water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Little Cypress Creek, Cypress Bayou, and Caddo Lake drain the northern and eastern parts of the county into the Red River in Louisiana.
The Sabine River flows through the southern part of the county and drains the other third. Early on, these rivers were important for getting around the county.
