The U.S. state of New York has a county called Hamilton County.
As of the 2020 census, there were 5,107 people living there.
This made it the county with the fewest people in all of New York.
It is the least crowded county east of the Mississippi River, even though it is almost as big as Delaware. Lake Pleasant is the county seat.
The county was made in 1816, and in 1847, it was put together.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county has a total area of 1,808 square miles (4,680 km2), of which 1,717 square miles (4,450 km2) are land and 90 square miles (230 km2) are water, or 5%.
It is the third-largest county in New York in terms of land area and the fifth-largest in terms of total area.
