The county of Grayson is in the American state of Texas.

As of the 2020 census, there were 135 543 people living there.

Sherman is the county seat.

The county was started in 1846 and is named for Peter Wagener Grayson, who was an attorney general for the Republic of Texas.

Grayson County is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington combined statistical area and the Sherman-Denison metropolitan statistical area.

It is part of the Texoma region and is close to Lake Texoma and the Red River. It is on the state’s border with Oklahoma.

The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county has a total area of 979 sq mi (2,540 km2), of which 933 sq mi (2,420 km2) are land and 46 sq mi (120 km2) (4.7%) are water.
