The county was made in 1824 and named after Major Benjamin Franklin Graves, a politician who died in the War of 1812.
The Paducah-Mayfield, KY-IL Combined Statistical Area includes the Mayfield, KY Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is in Graves County.
