Garden City is the county seat.
The county was made in 1887, and in 1893 it was put together.
It is named after George Washington Glasscock, who was one of the first people to move to the Austin, Texas area and is also the person who gave Georgetown, Texas its name.
The Big Spring, TX Micropolitan Statistical Area has Glasscock County as a part of it.
The county has a total area of 901 square miles (2,330 km2), of which 900 square miles (2,300 km2) are land and 0.9 square miles (2.3 km2) (0.1%) are water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Most of the county is built on top of the Spraberry Trend, which is the third-largest oil field in the United States based on how much oil is still there.
