Thomas Glascock was a soldier in the War of 1812, a general in the First Seminole War, and a U.S. representative. The county is named after him.
The county has a total area of 144 square miles (370 km2), of which 144 square miles (370 km2) are land and 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2) (0.5%) are water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
It has the fourth smallest area of any county in Georgia.
