Garrard County is a county in the east-central part of Kentucky.
As of the 2020 census, there were 16,953 people living in the county.
Lancaster is the county town.
The county was made in 1796 and named after James Garrard, who was Governor of Kentucky from 1796 to 1804.
It is a prohibition or “dry” county, but Lancaster, the county seat, is not dry.
The US Census Bureau says that the county covers a total area of 234 square miles (610 km2), of which 230 square miles (600 km2) are land and 3.9 square miles (10 km2) (1.7% of the total area) are water.
