William D. Gauge was a Methodist minister who was the first chaplain of the Nebraska Territorial Legislature. The county was named after him.
The Lincoln-Beatrice, NE Combined Statistical Area is made up of the Lincoln-Beatrice, NE Micropolitan Statistical Area as well as the Beatrice, NE Micropolitan Statistical Area.
