Franklin County is a county in the northeastern region of the United States state of Georgia.
The population was 23,424 at the time of the 2020 census.
Carnesville is the county seat.
On February 25, 1784, Franklin and Washington were established as Georgia’s eighth and ninth counties, respectively, with Franklin named for revolutionary Benjamin Franklin.
The county has a total area of 266 square miles (690 km2), of which 261 square miles (680 km2) is land and 5.0 square miles (13 km2) (1.9%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.
The county is located in the state’s Piedmont area.
