This made it the third-least populated county in Pennsylvania.
Tionesta is the county seat.
The county was made in 1848, and in 1857, it was put together.
On April 11, 1848, part of Jefferson County was taken away to make Forest County. On October 31, 1866, part of Venango County was added to the county.
This made the county bigger. Forest County got its name from the forests that are in it.
The county has a total area of 430 square miles (1,100 km2), of which 427 square miles (1,110 km2) are land and 3.3 square miles (8.5 km2) (0.8%) are water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
It has a humid continental climate (Dfb) with warm summers and cold winters. The average monthly temperature in Tionesta ranges from 25.3°F in January to 69.8°F in July.
