As of the census in 2020, there were 2,125 people living there.

Faulkton is the county seat.

The county was started in 1873, and in 1883 it was put together.It is named after the third Governor of Dakota Territory, Andrew Jackson Faulk.

Faulk County is made up of low, rolling hills, most of which are used for farming and slope toward the east. At 1,916 ft (584 m) ASL, the SW corner of the county is the highest point of the land.

The county covers a total area of 1,006 square miles (2,610 km2), of which 982 square miles (2,540 km2) are land and 24 square miles (62 km2) (2.4%) are water.
