Fannin County is a county in the north central region of the United States’ state of Georgia.
The population was 25,319 at the time of the 2020 census.
Due to its position in the Appalachian Mountain Range, Fannin County is one of Georgia’s most rural counties, with almost 90% of the people residing in unincorporated lands.
Blue Ridge is the county seat.
The county was established on January 21, 1854, and is named after James Fannin, a Texas Revolutionary War veteran.
The county has a total area of 392 square miles (1,020 km2), of which 387 square miles (1,000 km2) is land and 5.2 square miles (13 km2) (1.3%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.
The Blue Ridge Mountains surround the county.
