Essex County is a county in the northeastern part of Vermont, in the United States.
As of the 2020 census, there were 5,920 people living there, making it the county with the fewest people in both Vermont and New England.
Guildhall, which is the county seat, is its shire town.
The county was made in 1792, and it was put together in the year 1800.
Essex County is south of the Canadian province of Quebec.
It is on the east side of the Connecticut River, next to New Hampshire.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county covers 675 square miles (1,750 km2), of which 664 square miles (1,720 km2) are land and 12 square miles (31 km2) are water, or 1.7%.
