Elliott County is a county in the state of Kentucky in the United States. Sandy Hook is the county seat.
The county was made in 1869 from parts of Morgan, Lawrence, and Carter counties.
It is named for U.S. Congressman and Confederate Justice of the Kentucky Court of Appeals John Lyle Elliott.
Elliott County is a “dry county,” which means that selling alcoholic drinks is illegal everywhere in the county.
The county has a total area of 235 square miles (610 km2), of which 234 square miles (610 km2) are land and 1.0 square mile (2.6 km2) (0.4%) are water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
