Delta County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan.

It is in the Upper Peninsula.

As of the 2020 Census, there were 36,903 people living there.

Escanaba is the county seat.

The county was mapped out in 1843, and it was put together in 1861.

Its name comes from the Greek letter delta (), which refers to the triangular shape of the original county, which was made up of parts of Menominee, Dickinson, Iron, and Marquette counties.

The main industries are tourism and forest products. Hay, corn, small grains, potatoes, and strawberries are some of the crops grown there.

The Escanaba, MI Micropolitan Statistical Area is made up of Delta County.

The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county is 1,991 square miles (5,160 km2) in size, with 1,171 square miles (3,030 km2) of land and 820 square miles (2,100 km2) of water, or 41%.

It has the fifth-largest land area of any county in Michigan.
