As of the census in 2020, there were 1,661 people living there.
Scobey is the county seat.
It is on the north border of Montana, right next to the border with Saskatchewan.
In 1920, parts of Sheridan County and Valley County were moved to make Daniels County. The name comes from a rancher in the area named Mansfield Daniels.
The US Census Bureau says that the county has a total area of 1,426 square miles (3,690 km2), of which 1,426 square miles (3,690 km2) are land and 0.4 square miles (1.0 km2) (0.03%) are water.
Most of Daniels County is flat, rolling plains. The county is crossed by the Poplar River.
