Dallas County has more people than any other county in the state of Texas.
As of the 2020 U.S. census, there were 2,613,539 people living there.
This made it the ninth most populous county in the United States.
The Dallas–Arlington–Fort Worth metropolitan statistical area, which is also called the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, includes Dallas County.
As cities have grown in Dallas County, the lines between cities and neighbouring counties have become less clear.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county covers 909 square miles (2,350 km2), of which 873 square miles (2,260 km2) are land and 36 square miles (93 km2) are water, or 4.0%.
The county’s Open Space Programme helped the county buy 21 nature preserves that cover 3,519 acres.
