Cumberland County is a county in the Pennyroyal Plateau region of Kentucky, United States.
The population was 5,888 at the time of the 2020 census.Burkesville is its county seat.
The county was established in 1798 and named after the Cumberland River, which was maybe named after the Duke of Cumberland or the English county of Cumberland.
The county has a total area of 311 square miles (810 km2), of which 305 square miles (790 km2) is land and 5.7 square miles (15 km2) (1.8%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.
The Cumberland River and a minor branch of Dale Hollow Lake, which spans the county’s southern end, are major waterways.
