Coos County (pronounced /kus/ KOOSS) is one of Oregon’s 36 counties.
As of the census in 2020, there were 64,929 people living there.Coquille is the county seat.
The western parts of Umpqua County and Jackson County were put together to make this county.
It gets its name from a Native American tribe that lives in the area. The Coos Bay, OR Micropolitan Statistical Area is made up of Coos County.
The US Census Bureau says that the county has a total area of 1,806 square miles (4,680 km2), of which 1,596 square miles (4,130 km2) are land and 210 square miles (540 km2) are water, or 12% of the total area.
