Cherokee County is the westernmost county in North Carolina, United States.

It is bounded to the west by Tennessee and to the south by Georgia.

The population was 28,774 at the time of the 2020 census.

Murphy is the county seat.

The county has a total area of 467 square miles (1,210 km2), of which 455 square miles (1,180 km2) is land and 11 square miles (28 km2) (2.4%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.
