Campbell County is a county in the northern region of the United States state of Kentucky.

The population was 93,076 at the time of the 2020 census.

Alexandria and Newport serve as county seats.

On December 17, 1794, parts of Scott, Harrison, and Mason Counties merged to form the county.

Colonel John Campbell (1735-1799), a Revolutionary War soldier and Kentucky legislator, was honored with the name.

Campbell County, together with Boone and Kenton Counties, is part of the Northern Kentucky urban area and the Cincinnati-Middletown, OH-KY-IN Combined Statistical Area.

The county has a total area of 159 square miles (410 km2), of which 151 square miles (390 km2) is land and 8.1 square miles (21 km2) (5.1%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.

It is Kentucky’s fourth-smallest county in terms of land area and fifth-smallest in terms of total area. It is located on the Ohio and Licking Rivers.
