Burnet County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas.
It is on the Edwards Plateau. As of the census in 2020, there were 49,130 people living there.
Burnet is the county seat.
The county was started in 1852, and in 1854 it was put together.
It is named after the first (provisional) president of the Republic of Texas, David Gouverneur Burnet.
The first syllable of the name of the county is stressed, just like the name of the place it is named after.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county covers a total area of 1,021 sq mi (2,640 km2), of which 27 sq mi (70 km2) (2.6% of the total area) is made up of water.
