Brewster County is a county in the state of Texas in the United States.
It is in West Texas, and Alpine is its only and county seat city.
It is one of the nine counties in the Trans-Pecos region and shares a border with Mexico.
Brewster County has the most land area of any county in the state.
It covers 6,192 square miles (16,040 km2), which is more than three times the size of Delaware and over 500 square miles (1,300 km2) more than Connecticut.
As of the census in 2020, there were 9,546 people living there.
Colonel Henry Percy Brewster was the Secretary of War for the Republic of Texas. The county is named after him.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 6,192 square miles (16,040 km2), of which 6,184 square miles (16,020 km2) are land and 8.5 square miles (22 km2) (0.1%) are water.
It has the most land area of any county in Texas.
The Rio Grande is the only large body of water in the area.
