The name comes from the Northern Irish county of Antrim.

Torch Lake is the deepest and second-largest lake in Michigan.

Torch Lake is part of the Chain of Lakes Watershed, which is mostly in Antrim County.

It is known for its clear, blue water. Grand Traverse Bay, which is part of Lake Michigan, is on the west side of the county.

The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county covers 602 square miles (1,560 km2), of which 476 square miles (1,230 km2) are land and 126 square miles (330 km2) are water, or 21%.
