List of Towns, Villages and Cities in Isle of Wight County

There is an island called the Isle of Wight in the English Channel.

It is a county and unitary authority.

It is about 2 to 5 miles (3.2 to 8 kilometres) away from the coast of Hampshire, across the Solent. There are more people living on this island than on any other in England.

People who live on the Isle of Wight call it “The Island,” and its resorts have been popular vacation spots since the Victorian era.

People love it because of its mild weather, beautiful coastline, and green fields, downlands, and chines.

The island has always been a part of Hampshire.Sixth, the island is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Between the Solent and the English Channel is the Isle of Wight. It is about the shape of a rhomboid and has an area of 150 square miles (380 km2).

A little more than half of the island, mostly in the west, is protected as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Isle of Wight.

Over 100 square miles (258 km2) of the island is farmland, while 20 square miles (52 km2) are built-up areas.

The coastline runs for 57 miles (92 km). Many people say that it looks like “England in miniature” because of the variety of its landscapes.

The whole island was named a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in June 2019, recognising the long-term connections between the people who live there and the environment.
