Sharqia governorate (Arabic: محافظة الشرقية) Muḥāfẓet Esh Sharʔeya (pronounced [eʃ.ʃaeɾˈʔejjæ], rural: [eʃ.ʃæɾˈɡejje]) is Egypt’s third-most populous governorate. Zagazig, the capital, is located in the country’s north.
