Ismailia Governorate

Ismailia Governorate is one of Egypt’s Canal Zone governorates. Ismailia, the capital, is located in the country’s northeast.

It was named after Ismail Pasha, the Ottoman Viceroy of Egypt, who oversaw the country’s construction of the Suez Canal.

It is positioned between the other two Canal governorates, Port Said Governorate in northern Egypt and Suez Governorate.

The divisions are generally seven: Ismailia which is the capital, Tell El Kebir, Abu Suwir, Qassasin, Fayid, Qantara West and Qantara East.
