What to know
- Open Marketplace now: facebook.com/marketplace opens your local feed on any device (log in first). In the Facebook app, tap the storefront Marketplace icon, or Menu ☰ > Marketplace.
- Change the area: tap the location name at the top of Marketplace, type a city or postcode, then set the radius (from about 1 mile/2 km up to 500 miles/800 km).
- It is free. Browsing and buying cost nothing; most local deals are cash on pickup.

Open Marketplace on your phone
- Open the Facebook app and tap the storefront Marketplace icon in the top or bottom bar.
- Don’t see it? Tap Menu ☰, then Marketplace. If it is missing there too, your account is new, under 18, or in a country without Marketplace.
- The feed that opens is already sorted by distance from your current location.
Open Marketplace on a computer
- Go to facebook.com/marketplace.
- Use the left column to set Location and filters. The listings update as you change them.
How to find Marketplace items near you
- Browse the local feed. The listings you see are already sorted by nearness to your current location.
- Search for a specific item. Tap the search bar, type what you want (“dining table”, “iPhone”), and results default to nearby sellers.
- Filter the results. Use Filters to set a price range, category, and condition so you only see relevant local listings.
How to change your location and radius
If you are moving, travelling, or want to widen the net, adjust the location instead of the default:
- At the top of Marketplace, tap the current location (usually your city name).
- Enter a different city or postcode, or let Facebook use your current position.
- Set the radius — the distance around that point you want to search. A smaller radius keeps pickups close; a larger one shows more choice.
- Apply the change. Your Marketplace feed and searches now use the new area.
A tighter radius suits heavy items you will collect in person. Widen it when a listing is rare and worth a longer drive.
How to buy an item near you
- Open the listing and check the photos, price, and condition.
- Tap Message to ask the seller a question, or send the quick “Is this available?” message.
- Agree a price and a public place to meet for local pickup.
- Inspect the item before you pay. Cash is simplest for local deals.
Stay safe with local deals
Meet in a busy, well-lit spot and bring a friend for anything valuable. Do not send deposits or gift-card codes to hold an item, and be wary of a “buyer” who overpays and asks for a refund. Genuine local sales are simple: see it, pay for it, take it.

Why is Marketplace not showing items near me?
Location services may be off for the Facebook app, or your set location is a distant city. Turn on location permission in your phone settings, or tap the location in Marketplace and reset it to your area.
How do I widen my Marketplace search area?
Tap the location at the top of Marketplace, choose a city, and increase the radius. A larger radius pulls in listings from further away.
Is there a Marketplace app I can download?
No. Marketplace lives inside the Facebook app and at facebook.com/marketplace. Anything in an app store called “Marketplace near me” is not from Facebook.
Does buying on Marketplace cost anything?
No. Buyers pay only the seller’s price. Local pickup is free; a shipped order is paid through Facebook checkout.
