Kwilu is a province in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
It is one of the 21 provinces created with the 2015 redistribution.
The old Bandundu province was divided into three provinces: Kwilu, Kwango, and Mai-Ndombe.
Kwilu was founded by combining the Kwilu region with the cities of Bandundu and Kikwit, which were independently controlled.
Bandundu is the provincial capital.
The 2020 population is expected to be 6,682,300.
The province gets its name from the Kwilu River, which runs from south to north.
