Ishielu is a Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, Nigeria, about 30 kilometres north of Abakaliki. Its headquarters sits at Ezillo. The area covers about 872 square kilometres.
The 2006 census counted 151,048 residents. Ishielu holds 16 wards: Agba, Amaezu, Azuinyaba I, Azuinyaba II, Ezillo I, Ezillo II, Ezzagu I (Ogboji), Ezzagu II (Nkomoro), Iyonu, Nkalagu, Nkalaha, Ntezi, Obeagu, Ohofia, Okpoto and Umuhuali.
The postal code is 481. Nkalagu ward hosts the Nigercem cement factory, one of the LGA’s main employers alongside farming.
