Nord-Ubangi

Nord-Ubangi (French for “North Ubangi”) is one of the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s 21 new provinces established by the 2015 repartitioning.

The old Équateur province was divided into five provinces: Nord-Ubangi, Équateur, Mongala, Sud-Ubangi, and Tshuapa.

The province is located in the northern section of the country on the Ubangi River and was founded by combining the Nord-Ubangi district with the independently administered city of Gbadolite, which became the new province’s capital.

The capital is the city of Gbadolite. It is divided into four territories:

  • Bosobolo
  • Businga
  • Mobayi-Mbongo
  • Yakoma
