Tatchera County sits south of the Murray River and southwest of Swan Hill. Its western boundary runs along 143°E, and part of its southern boundary follows 36°S. It borders Karkarooc County to the north and west, Gunbower County to the east, Borung County to the southeast, and Kara Kara County and Gladstone County to the south.
