Potiskum Towns And Villages
Potiskum is a Local Government Area in central Yobe State, Nigeria, with its headquarters in Potiskum town, the state’s largest and most populous settlement. It sits on the Kano-Maiduguri highway roughly 100 kilometres west of Damaturu.
The 2006 census recorded a population of 204,866. Projections put the 2022 figure near 322,100. Bolewa, Karekare, Ngizim, Fulani and Hausa communities make up the bulk of the population.
Potiskum LGA has ten registration wards: Bare-Bare/Bauya/Lalai Dumbulwa, Bolewa ‘A’, Bolewa ‘B’, Danchuwa/Bula, Dogo Nini, Dogo Tebo, Hausawa, Mamudo, Ngojin/Alaraba and Yerimaram/Garin Daye/Badejo/Nahuta. It borders Fika, Nangere, Fune and Gujba LGAs; Fika town and Potiskum share a long intertwined history, and the Fika emirate seat moved to Potiskum in 1924.
