Nguru Towns And Villages

Nguru is a Local Government Area in the north of Yobe State, Nigeria, with its headquarters in the town of Nguru. It covers about 916 km2 on the edge of the Hadejia-Nguru wetlands, a Ramsar-listed floodplain fed by the Hadejia and Jama’are rivers.

The 2006 census recorded a population of 150,699. Projections put the 2022 figure near 236,900. Kanuri and Hausa are the main languages; Manga Kanuri communities dominate the rural wards.

Nguru LGA has ten registration wards: Bulabulin, Bulanguwa, Dabule, Dumsai/Dogon-Kuka, Garbi/Bambori, Hausari, Kanuri, Maja-Kura, Mirba-Kabir/Mirba Sagir and Nglaiwa. The town sits at the end of the old Nigerian Railway branch line from Kano and borders Karasuwa, Bade, Machina and Yusufari LGAs.
