Suaman is a district in the Western North Region of Ghana, in the far south-west of the region on the border with Côte d’Ivoire. Its capital is Dadieso. The district had a population of 38,268 at the 2021 census, the smallest of any district in the region.

Geography
Suaman was created in 2012 when the old Aowin/Suaman district was split in two, and it takes the western portion. It is one of the smallest districts in the Western North Region by population. The international boundary with Côte d’Ivoire runs along its western edge, and the land is low, forested and well watered, with the Suaman Tanoso forest area on its northern side. Within the region its main neighbour is Aowin, with Sefwi Akontobra further north-east.
Economy and Local Life
Cocoa is the leading cash crop, grown on smallholdings across the district, with oil palm, plantain, cocoyam, cassava and maize alongside it. Cross-border trade with Côte d’Ivoire shapes the local market, and Dadieso is the main trading point, with the district assembly, the market and the health centre. Timber is worked on a small scale. Several village names on the list below, such as Onipa Hia Mmoa and Nyamebekyere, are Akan proverb names given by the farmers who founded them, a common pattern in the migrant cocoa settlements of this zone.
Getting There
Dadieso is reached by road from Enchi, which connects north to Sefwi Wiawso and south to the Takoradi–Elubo corridor. From Kumasi, drive through Bibiani, Sefwi Wiawso and Enchi. The last stretches are untarred and slow during the rains, and shared taxis run between Dadieso and Enchi through the day.
