Towns and Villages in Awsi Rasu (Zone 1)

Awsi Rasu, commonly known as Administrative Zone 1, is a zone of Ethiopia’s Afar Region.

This zone is bounded by Gabi Rasu to the south, Hari Rasu to the southwest, the Amhara Region to the west, Fantí Rasu to the northwest, Kilbet Rasu to the north, Eritrea to the northeast, and Djibouti to the east.

Asayita is the major town in Awsi Rasu. The Awash River, along with its tributaries the Mille and Logiya Rivers, flow through this zone.

This Zone contains a series of six interconnected lakes fed by the Awash: Gargori, Laitali, Gummare, Bario, and Lake Abbe (or Abhe Bad).
