The Giza Governorate, also known as Muḥāfaẓah Al Gizah in Arabic, is an Egyptian governorate. It is located in the center of the country, on the west bank of the Nile River, opposite Cairo.
Its capital is Giza. It comprises a section of the Nile Valley’s left bank near Giza, as well as a substantial portion of Egypt’s Western Desert, including Bahariya Oasis, after the 6th of October Governorate was incorporated into it on April 14, 2011. The Giza Governorate also houses the Great Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza.
