Kongo Central (Kongo dia Kati), originally known as Bas-Congo, is one of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s 26 provinces.
The capital is Matadi.
Kongo Central is the country’s only province with an ocean shoreline; it has a narrow frontage on the Atlantic Ocean.

It shares boundaries with the provinces of Kinshasa to the northeast, Kwango to the east, the Republic of Angola to the south, and the Republic of the Congo and Cabinda in the north.
The provincial capital is Matadi. The only other officially recognized city is Boma.
