Imbabazane Local Municipality was a local municipality in KwaZulu-Natal’s uThukela District until August 2016, when it merged with Umtshezi Local Municipality to form Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality.
It covered rural grassland east of the Drakensberg foothills, with settlements including Ntabamhlope, Sweetwaters, Moorberg, Otterburn and KwaMkhize. The area had no large town of its own; residents relied on Estcourt, in the neighbouring Umtshezi area, for shopping and services.
These towns and villages are now profiled under Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality, the current municipal authority for the area.
