Kannaland sits in the Little Karoo, bordered by Laingsburg and Prince Albert to the north, Oudtshoorn to the east, Hessequa to the south, and Langeberg to the west. Ladismith sits below the Swartberg range; Calitzdorp lies to the east on the road to Oudtshoorn. The Seweweekspoort mountain pass, one of the Little Karoo’s best-known scenic drives, cuts north through the Swartberg from Ladismith toward Laingsburg.

Calitzdorp grew up as a farming and later wine town along the Grootrivier.
