A county in the U.S. state of South Dakota is called Sanborn County.

As of the census in 2020, there were 2,330 people living there.

Woonsocket is the county seat and biggest city.

On May 1, 1883, the Dakota Territorial legislature made the county out of land that was taken from Miner County. By July 18, 1883, it was all set up.

Sanborn County is mostly made up of rolling hills that are mostly used for farming.

In the east-central part of the county, the James River flows south, and Dry Run Creek drains the southwest part of the country.

The land slopes to the south and southeast.

The highest point, at 1,358 ft (414 m) ASL, is in the SW corner.

The county covers a total area of 570 square miles (1,500 km2), of which 569 square miles (1,470 km2) are land and 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2) (0.2%) are water.
