St. Clair County is a county in the state of Michigan in the United States.
It is on the west side of the St. Clair River.
As of the census in 2020, there were 160,383 people living there.
It has the 13th most people in the whole state. Port Huron, which is at the north end of the St. Clair River and Lake Huron, is the county seat.
On September 10, 1820, the county was made, and in 1821, its government was set up.
It is northeast of Detroit, and the Office of Management and Budget counts it as part of the Detroit–Warren–Dearborn Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The State of Michigan also counts it as part of The Thumb, a peninsula in the east-central part of the state that is surrounded by Lake Huron.
Some people call this area the Blue Water Area.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county covers 837 square miles (2,170 km2), of which 721 square miles (1,870 km2) are land and 115 square miles (300 km2) are water, or 14%.
