Richland County is a county in the state of Illinois in the United States.
The 2020 US census said that there were 15,813 people living there. Olney is the county seat.
In 1841, parts of the east part of Clay County and the west part of Lawrence County were taken to make Richland County.
It was named after Ohio’s Richland County, where many of the first residents came from.
The county has a total area of 362 square miles (940 km2), of which 360 square miles (930 km2) are land and 1.9 square miles (4.9 km2) (0.5%) are water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
